Health Care

As a Psychologist, I often see the waste and inefficiency of our fragmented health care system. As a member of the Phoenix Union High School District Governing Board, I often see students who miss school or are not fully engaged in school because of health issues that go untreated. Many young people are without adequate health insurance and many adults forego insurance because they simply can not afford the cost. Untreated physical or mental illness not only has terrible consequences for the person affected, but often for his or her family and the community as well. Untold costs related to homelessness, lack of education or job skills, and incarcerations due to untreated illness are continuing to contribute to our budget woes. I am committed to advocating for effective and available physical and mental health care for our community.
